Flanders Vaccine WEBINAR 1: Science based solutions to control the COVID-19 crisis

On June 18th & 25th 2020 Flanders Vaccine is happy to organize its first webinar series to share some scientific information on the special road to a vaccine or treatment to control the COVID-19 pandemic.

This series is split in two parts:

  • Webinar 1 on June 18th at 17:00 CEST: Pre-clinical and clinical research for an unknown virus
    Deadline registration on 16/06/2020
  • Webinar 2 on June 25th at 17:00 CEST: COVID-19: Prevention and Cure
    Deadline registration on 23/06/2020
Registration is closed for Webinar 1

Leading scientist, all Flanders Vaccine members, will show you the latest results of their groundbreaking research to respond to this crisis.

Among them are Prof. Pierre Van Damme, Prof. Johan Neyts, Prof. Bart Lambrecht and many more renowned experts.

The development of a COVID-19 vaccine is urgently needed, so is the discovery of COVID-19 treatments. As part of this process, it is also important to have a suitable animal model to test them. However, which animal(s) can be the most useful to study COVID-19 remains a question.

Making the right choice may be the most important factor for success in the development of a vaccine or treatment.

Another key element to control this crisis is “time”. How can the long road to a vaccine or treatment be shortened without sacrificing safety. What is the role of Controlled Human Infection Models (CHIMs) in this process?

These topics will be discussed during the first webinar on Thursday 18 June from 17:00-19:00 CEST.
