The COVID-19 pandemic can only be controlled by building up population immunity, preferably through safe and effective vaccines. Scientists around the globe are working on the development of a COVID-19 vaccine by applying a broad spectrum of technology platforms. These technology platforms not only include the classical approaches that have already led to approved products, but also more novel and innovative technologies that as yet remain further to be proven.
Also in The Netherlands, many academic and industry research groups are actively involved in COVID-19 vaccine development and this webinar aims to provide an overview. During the webinar, representatives of most of these research groups will report on the scientific background of their candidate vaccines, the current state of development, and the prospects.
